Tour Overview
Tick the Great Wall of China off your bucket list with this full day guided tour. Departing from Beijing, this trip takes you out to the Mutianyu section of the wall, one of the best-preserved sections with a wealth of architecturally astounding watchtowers from which you can gaze out over the vast landscape.
If time allows, you’ll first enjoy a stop at the magnificent “Bird’s Nest” stadium where many events were held during the 2008 Summer Olympics. Once at the wall itself, you’ll have around 90 minutes for a leisurely wander of one of the world’s most famous world heritage sites, parts of which date back to the 3rd century BC.
Visit in spring to breathe in the heady fragrance of chestnut blossoms as you explore. Take time to enjoy a satiating lunch of traditional cuisine at a local restaurant – included in the price of the tour – then continue on for an afternoon at the visually stunning Summer Palace, a vast and perfectly preserved royal garden with exquisite examples of intricate Chinese architecture. Meander pretty pavilions, shimmering waterways and marvel at the glittering waters of Kunming Lake which sits at the garden’s heart.
