Tour Overview
The Old vs New Hong Kong tour combines the slow, traditional side of Hong Kong with the feverish futurism that Hong Kong is known for. The tour starts at the very heart of Hong Kong tradition with a visitation of some of the city’s oldest and most unique areas of street shops. Hollywood Road is the first along the trail of Hong Kong street shops, here you can see over 100 antique shops selling a variety of antiques- from Ming Vases to Han Dynasty war horse pottery. You then have the opportunity to visit Hong Kong’s old Black Market, now Cat Street is home to an open-air curio market.
The next part of the tour is a journey to Tai Ping Shan, which shows the new and contemporary shops of Hong Kong- here you see the mix of European style and traditional Hong Kong streetscapes, which have created mesmerising neighbourhoods in SoHo and NoHo.
There is an opportunity to travel on the relaxing yet iconic 800m-long escalator, which is the longest outdoor escalator system in the world. This escalator is known for bringing together traditional and modern life, as it travels through a district with both old and new streets.
The tour is ended with a trip to Central, where you can see the city’s central business district, home to modern skyscrapers. Central also includes posh social clubs, upscale shopping malls, and beautifully constructed office towers.
