The 5 Coolest Cocktails in the World

Just like food, cocktails will always reflect the landscape and the culture in which they have been created, so when you journey across the globe you are sure to encounter a wide variety of intriguing alcoholic beverages concocted using the freshest local flavours. Here at Pure Destinations we have come up with the 5 coolest cocktails in the world for you to sample on your globetrotting adventures! Happy sipping!

Dirty Pop: Apotheca Bar, Manchester

Manchester may not be the most exotic destination in the world but if you are heading to this Northern city for business or pleasure, be sure to pop into the Apotheca Bar to sample this zingy little cocktail. A blend of refreshing kiwi-flavoured vodka, peach puree, crème de cerise liqueur and maraschino cherries, and augmented by a sachet of popping candy, this drink is guaranteed to tantalize your taste buds.

Phil Khallins: Mission Chinese Food, New York

Although this incredibly quirky cocktail can be sipped on East Broadway in New York it is inspired by the flavours of Thailand, being based on tom kha, a creamy herb-infused coconut soup. Served in an adorable little Chinese soup bowl, the drink consists of coconut, gin, sesame oil, kaffir lime, ginger and fried chillies so there’s no denying it’s chock-full of flavour.

Dropje Daiquiri: Singapore Tippling Club, Singapore

Singapore is best known for one cocktail in particular of course, but that doesn’t mean that the city doesn’t boast many other creative drinks – and the Dropje Daiquiri is surely one not to be passed up. This delicious and super-refreshing tipple is concocted using a tantalizing blend of ingredients from around the world, including salted licorice from Holland, smooth Venezuelan rum and the tangy flavours of citrus and orange curacao.

Cocoa’s Revenge: Fairmount Pacific Rim Hotel, Vancouver

If you’re a fan of chocolatey decadence – and let’s face it, who isn’t? – then this is the cocktail for you. Created in the Fairmount Pacific Rim Hotel, this mouth-watering beverage is composed of Kettle One Vodka and Ron Zacapa Rum, blended with white chocolate cream and topped off with a pinch of nutmeg. It can be served either hot or cold, depending on your preference.

Sourtoe Cocktail: Downtown Hotel, Yukon

This is arguably the most bizarre – and somewhat unsettling – cocktail in the world, and has been documented on TV at least once. If you’re not squeamish, head over to the Downtown Hotel and ask for their infamous Sourtoe cocktail, which is made using your favoured drink of choice – and the addition of a real, amputated, pickled human toe. Yes really. Just try not to emulate one of the bar’s previous patrons and swallow the toe, as then the bar staff will have to go through the unpleasant task of finding a new one…
