Pamela and Peter celebrate in style at Kuramathi Island

Pamela decided to spend around a week at Kuramathi Island Resort in the Maldives with her partner, Peter, for her birthday celebrations. They were very happy with the recommendation made by Rebecca at Pure Destinations, we caught up with Pamela to see how she celebrated her birthday in style in the tropical Island of Maldives…

“The transferring experience was very pleasant as we were met by a Kuramathi representative as soon as we got to the Male airport in the morning. We were then shown to a transfer bus and taken to the Trans Maldivian Airways sea port, on arrival we waited at the Kuramathi air-conditioned and tranquil waiting lounge. Here we were offered refreshments whilst we waited to board our sea plane to Kuramathi. The seaplane journey took 20 minutes from the Male Airport and it was a complete new breathtaking experience. It was very exciting as we got a birds eye view of the other beautiful Maldives Island before landing in the sea just off Kuramathi. Finally, we were met by a speed boat that took us and our luggage on a five minute transfer to the beautiful Island of Kuramathi. ”

“On arrival we were greeted by the receptionist and taken to our stunning deluxe beach villa with jacuzzi located a few steps away from the beach. Our room facing the awe-inspiring turquoise lagoon featured a king sized bed with TV, Ipod dock, UK style pug sockets (no need to take your adaptors), sun loungers, air conditioning to keep the room cool and even includes a lovely bathroom and a fabulous outdoor shower. The nights were amazing as you can watch the sunset and are free to walk around the island but they have a buggy service to take you to the local restaurants and bars close by or wherever you want to go. We could not fault the room we were staying at.”

“We were spoilt for choice with the cuisines available at our resort. On our first night we tried the Tandoor Mahal buffet including the al carte menu which we tried twice. Our allocated buffet restaurant where we enjoyed breakfast and lunch was the Malaafaiy which was situated in the middle of the Island and including lunch at the Island coffee shop.

During the evening the food was to die for, we tried fish in the Reef restaurant, delicious Thai food at the Siam Thai and an authentic beach bbq at the Beach barbecue. We definitely recommend the delicious Cafe Liegeois (espresso) ice cream and the amazing steak dish at the Palm. our personal fav was the Tandoori Mahal and loved the Chicken jalfrezi dish. ”

“Our highlight was watching the amazing sunrise on the east side of the island by getting up early at 5am. As for the fun activities there is plenty available at the resort to keep everyone entertained. We took advantage of the snorkelling and swam in the sea every day, taking photos of the wonderful marine life. We also saw the sunset whilst enjoying cocktails at the Laguna Bar which was equally amazing. For my birthday, I used my Kuramathi Spa voucher treated by my friends. The ladies at the spa retreat were very professional and friendly, I really enjoyed the experience.”

“Our overall impression of the Kuramathi Island was one of pure relaxation. We didn’t see many other guests unless we were in the restaurants, so was quite private and perfect for us spending time with each other. The staff was very professional but friendly and did a great job in keeping the Island tidy and clean. It sure was an unforgettable birthday experience and definitely be coming back to this beautiful Island resort in the Maldives.”
