Karen’s trip to the Maldives!

Our homeworker, Karen, was lucky enough to visit the stunning Maldives in November, on a familiarisation trip to learn more about the beautiful Maldives islands. Visiting 6 stunning islands, all of which have their own unique ambience, Karen takes an inside look to give you a wide choice of paradise islands in the Indian Ocean. How was your upgraded flight?

“We were very lucky and got an upgrade to Club World / Business Class by BA both ways. The seats were very comfortable, and turned into a flat bed, which allowed us to get plenty of sleep. There was plenty to eat and drink, with choice of soft drinks to various wines, champagne & spirits.”

How was your time at Velassaru?

“On arrival to Velassaru by speed boat from Mahe, we were greeted with cold flannels and drinks to freshen up, before we embarked on our site visit. The island was busy, so we were lucky enough to get to see 3 of their rooms types, one being the newly refurbished Deluxe Villas, which are very contemporary and fresh. The spa treatment rooms were over the water and very relaxing. The island also has it’s own dive centre, with many dive sites to choose from. We then had a hosted leisurely lunch with the hotel manager, who had chosen a special menu for us, which was absolutely gorgeous.”

How was your time at Kuramathi Island?

“We spent 2 nights at Kuramathi Island and stayed in the 2 Bedroom Beach House. This would be ideal for families with older children, or 2 couples travelling together. There is one main door, then another two locked doors to each bedrooms, one up stairs and the other down stairs. These rooms are located on the beach, and close to the main restaurant. This island has so much to offer, from different type bars and restaurants, to a cigar lounge and a champagne loft. I would recommend this island to younger couples, families, & groups of couples who want more entertainment and actives to do both in the evening and daytime.”

How was your afternoon on Kandolhu Island?

“To me this island is total paradise, you can kick of your shoes from the moment you arrive and never need to put them back on until you leave. The snorkeling safari that we did was fantastic and we got to see a turtle as well as all the stunning fish. We had a delicious lunch in one of the 4 A La Carte restaurants.   I would recommend this to couples, whether it would be honeymooners, an anniversary holiday or just that special romantic getaway and for those who are looking for that intimate Island feel.”

How was your stay at Constance Moofushi?

“At Constance Moofushi I was lucky enough to stay in a Water Villa, this was very rustic in design, and boasts steps down into the turquoise warm water. Constance Moofushi Island would suite couples, and families of older children who enjoy water activities.”

How was your time at Diamonds Athuruga?

“Diamonds Athuruga is a very contemporary resort and I would recommend this to Couples wanting that special holiday and who enjoy snorkeling.”

How was your time at Maafushivaru?

“This is a gem of an island, as soon as we stepped off the boat there was an abundance of tropical fish under the jetty, along with baby black tip sharks! My room for the night was the Pool Villa, the room was very spacious and the out door pool was shared with another pool villa, making this room type great for couples of families with older children. We took a trip the private island, this is truly magical if anyone really wants that intimate feeling of being the only people on an island. There is one room, with a Jacuzzi outside, and you can book your own personal chef for the night too!”
