Why have a Jamaica Holiday?

Famous for its friendly faces and huge global influence in music, Jamaica is a Caribbean Island lined with stunning beaches, colourful coral reefs (making it a diver’s dream), lush mountains and dense rainforests. Home to reggae legend Bob Marley and bursting with delicious cuisine, this little island certainly pulls its weight with its cherished culture around the world. Filled with sophisticated and stylish resorts offering the very pinnacle of luxury, Jamaica makes the perfect holiday for any discerning traveller.

A few things about Jamaica…

The Birth Place of James Bond

Bond’s creator Ian Fleming conjured up the international spy novels on the north coast of Jamaica, where he named his home after the operation he took part in during World War II, “Goldeneye”. Ring any bells? The first ever Bond film, “Dr No”, was filmed in Jamaica, and his hideaway was in fact a bauxite storage facility which can be spotted in Discovery Bay. Laughing Waters, one of Jamaica’s most beautiful beaches, is also featured in the film.

Amazing Coffee

Believe or not, one of Jamaica’s best attributes is its Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee, which is one of the most expensive and prized coffees around the globe. The coffee’s best characteristics are its lack of bitterness while still possessing a tasty, full-bodied flavour. It is one of the most sought-after coffees in the world, with 80% of produce being exported to Japan, and it is also the base of the famous Tia Maria liquor.

Underrated food

Jamaica is notorious for many things, but its cuisine is something that many people look past until they have tried it. You are bound to be pleasantly surprised by the blend of different cultures’ cuisines, giving a flavoursome and spicy taste that is completely unique to Jamaica. You may come across the famous ackee and saltfish, pan chicken, curries, jerked pork and escoveitch fish. If you love trying new culinary experiences, we certainly recommend a Jamaica holiday!

Montego Bay

Montego Bay is Jamaica’s second city, with the same hustle and bustle in the inner-city that Kingston has to offer, and with hotels and resorts scattered further out that offer only the highest standards of service and accommodation. Here you will find many tourist attractions, restaurants, duty free shopping and, of course, beautiful white sand beaches with mountains seated in the background. The hotels in this area are mainly recently built, therefore offering an extremely modern and fresh ambience as you step inside. Enjoy world-class golf courses, butler service and the best snorkelling spots in the Caribbean.

Negril

Negril offers a more laid-back atmosphere than Montego Bay, famed for its miles and miles of glorious beaches with calm, crystal clear waters. If you have young children who will want to take a splash in the sea, the surrounding waters of Negril are best as they have shallow bays where the waves are not as strong. If you would like to discover some night-life on your Jamaica holiday, Negril is a good option as it comes to life at night with sounds of reggae and dancehall blaring from its beach-side clubs.

Ocho Rios

Located on the north coast and Spanish for ‘Eight Rivers’, Ocho Rios was once a fishing village which has now adapted to cater the many tourists that pass by. There are lots of tourist attractions in this area, such as Colombus Park, Spanish colonial buildings, and there is even an opportunity to interact with dolphins in Dolphin Cave, a great opportunity for animal-lovers and kids! If you are a James Bond fan, you may recognise some of the area from scenes from “Dr No”.
