Visit the Caledonia Falls
Nestled among lush forest near Platres village in the breath-taking Troodos Mountains are the Caledonia Falls, which can be reached by a scenic 3km nature walk. On your way to the falls enjoy the sound of birdsong and the peace and beauty of the forest then sit down for a little romantic picnic beside the rushing water, savouring the opportunity to reconnect with nature.
Experience two cultures in divided capital Nicosia
Nicosia is the last divided capital in the world, part of the city belonging to the Turkish side of the island and part of the city belonging to the Greek side. Explore the atmospheric Old City and learn more about Cypriot history in museums such as the Cyprus Museum or the Byzantine Museum, treat yourselves to an unforgettable spa treatment in the Hamam Omerye and shop for souvenirs in Laiki Geitonia. There are many excellent restaurants and cafes to be found in Nicosia and if you want to experience some nightlife during your visit why not head to the highly popular Sfinakia Club on Kyriakou Matsi Avenue.
Explore ancient Pafos
Nea Pafos – which, funnily enough, translates as New Pafos – is a fascinating archaeological site, home to the ruins of ancient Pafos which was founded in the 4th century BC. Marvel at the exquisite mosaics, particularly in what is known as the House of Dionysus; visit the Villa of Theseus, thought to date back to the 2nd century; and explore the Agora and the remains of the Asklipieion, an ancient healing centre and altar dedicated to the deity of medicine.
Kindle a romance at Aphrodite Beach
Aphrodite Beach is arguably the most famous on the island and is supposedly the very spot where the goddess herself walked out of the waves to become the patron goddess of Cyprus. It’s also the perfect place to swim and sunbathe and is undoubtedly a romantic spot for couples on a magical Cypriot getaway.
Have a family-friendly day at the Santa Marina Retreat
Families on holiday in Cyprus are sure to love a day spent at the Santa Marina Retreat, which offers an impressive selection of activities ranging from mountain biking, archery and football to horse riding, wall climbing and golf. There is also a museum, a buggy nature trail and an adventure course or you can swing through the trees with the greatest of ease on the retreat’s Sky Trail.
