Day 1 – Fly to San Jose

Depart the UK and land in San Jose for your first overnight stay.
STOP 2
Day 2 – San Jose to San Gerardo de Dota
San Gerardo de Dota
Begin your adventure with transfers to San Gerardo de Dota, the journey is a few hours away and you will pass rolling green hills and fruit plantations for pleasant views. The lush rainforests of San Gerardo de Dota is the ideal habitat for an abundance of bird and flora species so make sure your camera is fully charged!

Day 3 – San Gerardo de Dota

Experience bird watching today on a tour, and if you’re lucky enough you might spot the amazing Resplendent Quetzal. In the afternoon, you will travel to the highlands to visit fruit plantations to discover how semi-organic farms operate.

Day 4 – San Gerardo de Dota to Turrialba

Enjoy the overland journey to the agriculturally rich region of Turrialba, driving past verdant valleys and majestic volcanoes. You will visit a local cheese farm in Santa Cruz, which is a unique farming town in the highlands as well as one of the most important volcanic ranges in the country!

Day 5 – Turrialba

Enjoy a day of local activities in this little-known region. In the morning you will go wildlife spotting and in the afternoon you will learn all about the local produce.

Day 6 – Turrialba to Tortuguero

Your day will begin early as you journey to Tortuguero National Park, which is a unique eco-system, of canals and rainforests. The adventure begins with a boat journey to your lodge, which is an incredible experience within itself, and of course, your first chance to spot the amazing wildlife! The park is home so spider monkeys, howler monkeys, jaguars, ocelot, sloths and otters just to name a few. In the afternoon you will have the chance to visit Tortuguero village to meet the locals.

Day 7 – Totuguero

Take a boat tour through the canals of the tropical rainforest – make sure to bring your camera to capture those unforgettable moments. During the afternoon, explore around the lodge by kayak or take a pleasant walk though the many natural trails in exploration.
STOP 8
Day 8 – Tortuguero to Arenal

Travel to the gateway town, La Fortuna, to one of the country’s most iconic natural sights, Arenal Volcano, which is a major highlight to your holiday in Costa Rica! Admire the stunning views of the perfectly symmetrical volcano from the comforts of your hotel!

Day 9 – Arenal

Spend the morning and early afternoon at your own leisure before heading out on a night walk to discover Costa Rica’s nocturnal wonders. After the exciting tour, tuck into a delicious typical dinner cooked on a wood-burning stove.

Natural World Experience: Arenal Volcano Park is one of Costa Rica’s most visited sites and today you will walk along some of its many trails to get as close to the breathtaking volcano!
Wildlife Experience: Mistico Arena Hanging Bridges – Located 600 metres above sea level, with 250 hectares of mature forest and an oasis of biodiversity, you’ll enjoy the vistas from the treetops where you can spot the incredible wildlife, birds, butterflies, mammals and much more as you walk along the park’s hanging bridges.
Active Experience: Fortuna Waterfall Hiking – This tour begins by descending the 500-metre trail to the stunning La Fortuna Waterfall famed for the 60-metre drop into the crystal clear pools of water, which you can swim in! Take advantage of enjoying the stunning surrounding scenery of lush forests and abundant wildlife.
