Overview
Have you ever eaten dinner with the background noises provided by hippo? Imagine a breathtaking location within Tanzania’s Selous Game Reserve at Serena Mivumo River Lodge, that is reached by light aircraft. The reserve is a World Heritage Site and the largest game reserve in Africa – larger than Switzerland – and home to the largest concentration of elephants in the world.

Room Types
The Serena Mivumo River Lodge nestles in unspolit beauty. There are just 12 chalets and each is traditionally styled with brushwood thatched roofs, wood and stone walls, sprung wooden floors and air conditioning. They are a wonderful mixture of Edwardian elegance and contemporary comfort with antique safari ornaments. They have huge floor to ceiling windows to maximize on their stunning location and high vaulted ceilings to help the air circulate. In the living area there is leather and rattan furniture, chandeliers, tea and coffee making facilities and mini bar. Mineral water is provided. The en suite bathroom is situated outdoors and has an antique style bathtub, separate rain shower and twin marble vanity basins. Gowns, slippers and toiletries are provided. Outside there is a furnished verandah and private plunge pool.

Chalet
This beautiful chalet is perfect for two as it is comfortable and spacious with 70 m² of floor area and romantic. The living area is a blend of leather, wood and rattan and the king size bed is decorated with colourful cushions and throws in shades of gold, green and orange and it has a canopy and mosquito curtains. Outside, the spacious verandah has sun loungers and a plunge pool for total relaxation.

Mivumo Villa
This truly luxurious villa is very spacious and has three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed and the other two can have either a large double or twin beds. Each has an opulent en suite bathroom. The villa has been built on rocks and these are incorporated in its décor and a stream runs through the villa! The beautiful living area overlooks the Rufiji River and has an LCD TV and writing desk. There is a dining area and private kitchen with chef to prepare all your meals Outside the spacious verandah is furnished with sun loungers, table and chairs and has a beautiful plunge pool and outside rain shower.
Facilities
The Serena Mivumo River Lodge has a lovely infinity swimming pool and sun deck, which is perfect for relaxing and a range of massages are available too.
Explore this destination by canoes and there is an excellent selection of nature walks, excursions and game drives. There are safaris every day with knowledgeable guides and so many animals to spot including zebras, giraffes, lions, hippos and elephants. Following that great tradition, there are sundowners each evening when you return back to the lodge!

Restaurants
Enjoy bush dining at its best! Perched on wooden decks above the river, the dining room is the perfect place to begin and end each day as it offers spectacular views of hippos, elephants and crocodiles on the riverbank.

The Restaurant
Breakfast is served buffet style with the option of a 'Full English' breakfast! For lunch there are meat, fish and vegetarian options as well as lighter snacks and dinner comprises of a salad buffet and a range of dishes made with locally sourced produce and there is a good selection of new and old world wines.
