Room Types

Accommodation at Kapama Private Game Reserve comes in the form of four luxury safari lodges, each one boasting a stunning location and equipped with an array of modern conveniences.

Superior villas (Karula)

These 90 sq. m villas are filled with exquisite details like wrap-around sliding doors, a heated pool, patio/deck area, an outdoor shower, indoor bathroom area, and a comfy bed.
Superior family villas (Karula)

These sumptuous villas are ideal for relaxing in. Enjoy an open-plan living room, sip Champagne from your own private deck, take a dip in your now pool, or unwind in an en-suite bedroom with a TV.
Tents (Buffalo camp)

These elegant ‘tents’ are 35 sq. m in size and offer a taste of bush living due to their setting among trees and above a river. Revel in the atmosphere of oil lanterns, elevated walkways, en-suite bathrooms and a comfy sleeping area with heated blankets.
Suites (Southern Camp)

Book one of these 45 sq. m suites and benefit from well-appointed en-suite bedrooms, private patios from which to spot wildlife, a bathroom with a tub, and a comfy bed.
Luxury Villas (Southern Camp)

At 95 sq. m, these villas provide plenty of space. You’ll enjoy a private pool, outdoor shower, and bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
Family Luxury Villas (Southern Camp)

Indulge in the ultimate safari experience with a 130 sq. m villa. A large pool, a patio with loungers, and plush bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms will be all yours.

These 35 sq. m suites spectacular views of the local flora and fauna, private patios, comfortable bathrooms, and stylish sleeping areas.
Spa Suites (River lodge)

Choose one of these 50 sq. m suites close to the spa, and make the most of floor-to-ceiling windows, a spacious bathroom, private patio, and comfy beds.
Family Suites (River lodge)

Relax after a day of game drives in one of these 70 sq. m suites for the family. With en-suite bathrooms and plenty of space for extra beds, you’ll have all the privacy you need.
Royal Suites (River lodge)

Pure indulgence — these 40 sqm suites encompass a private lounge, a patio with a sofa, en-suite bathrooms with dual showers, and spectacular scenery.

Facilities

First and foremost, your luxury South African safari will be all about the game drives. Two outings a day are offered to all guests, with expert rangers and trackers ready to take you on the adventure of a lifetime. Try to spot the ‘Big Five’ as well as an array of other wildlife, with stops for snacks along the way.

Kapama River Lodge: the facilities at this majestic game lodge include a swimming pool with umbrella-shaded recliners, and a thoughtfully designed L-shaped lounge and bar with its two big fireplaces and glass stack doors. The lodge is also home to a well-stocked wine cellar and a media room with DVD player and satellite TV.

Kapama Southern Camp: guests staying at this lodge will benefit from a pristine outdoor pool and pool deck, as well as a tastefully furnished lounge, a wine cellar, open-sided dining room and a boma.

Kapama Buffalo Camp: in between game drives and bush walks, guests can unwind around the rim-flow swimming pool with its comfortable loungers or head to the cosy lounge to curl up with a good book or indulge in some bird watching.

Kapama Karula: there is a stylish open-plan lounge and bar at Karula, where guests can mingle and unwind in cosy comfort. The camp also features a dining room and charming library with two internet stations.

As well as the impressive facilities provided for guests by the reserve’s luxury lodges, Kapama is also home to a breathtaking wellness centre, one of the best of its kind in Africa. Boasting 6 lavish treatment suites, a state-of-the-art mini gym and a central lap pool, the spa is perfectly equipped to provide you with all of your health and beauty requirements. The enticing menu of treatments includes a 4hr African Sunrise package, the Kapama Marula Sensual Steam Treatment for two, soothing massages, ear candling, and nurturing body wraps.

During your stay at the reserve you can also go on twice-daily game drives and bush walks, and savour a unique elephant interaction experience you will never forget. Romantic sleep-outs, hot air ballooning and photographic safaris are also available, and if you wish you can take a late-morning trip to the Hoedspruit Centre for Endangered Species, where you can view some of the animals being rehabilitated and learn more about the centre’s various ongoing projects.

If it’s romance you’re after, you can also take advantage of a magical ‘night under the stars’ experience, where you’ll watch the sun set, tuck into a five-course dinner whipped up by a personal chef, and sleep out in an animal-proof luxury accommodation venue.

Restaurants

Each camp offers a top restaurant and bar, with spaces to stretch out and enjoy the ambience. As well as fresh meals, there are opportunities to enjoy snacks and treats, such as a high-tea, throughout the day. Kosher options are available upon request.

At Karula, you’ll find a relaxing lounge, a bar serving refreshing cocktails, a library with a media centre, and a dining area with exquisite meals.
