OVERVIEW

The Nordic country of Denmark is the perfect holiday destination for couples, families and groups of friends who enjoy nothing more than culture, dramatic coastlines – and good food. Although Denmark is a relatively small country, you won’t be stuck for things to see and do. What’s more, getting from A to B is extremely easy so you can accomplish such a lot in a short space of time.

Most tourists venture to Denmark to explore its capital city of Copenhagen. It’s famed for being the ‘happiest city in the world’ – and its friendly locals are certainly a testament to that.  The city is distinguished by cosmopolitan character and is famed for its sparkling canals, cycling society and blend of modern and historical architecture. While spending time in the bustling capital, you’ll also be spoiled for choice by the activities, entertainment and award-winning bars and restaurants to explore.

Very few people consider Denmark as a beach resort, so you may be surprised to learn that there are several great beaches to visit if you enjoy spending time by the coast. Unlike other European holiday resorts, you’ll never have to battle against the crowds to find a spot on the sand. Here, the beaches are often deserted – so it’s not unusual to have the sands to yourself. If you’re keen to enjoy a spot of sunbathing during the summer months, Søndervig in West Jutland would be a great shout. However, if an active beach day is more up your street, we’d highly recommend Klitmøller Bay in North Jutland, where you can partake in activities such as fishing, kayaking and windsurfing.

In recent years, Denmark has become one of the world’s greenest countries which is perfect for those who are keen to travel, while paying attention to their carbon footprint.
